Cynthia Strong Thompson is a native of Roanoke, Virginia. She graduated from Rhodes College with a B.A. in Political Science. Cynthia has been a financial advisor since 2004 after a successful career with Ethicon, Inc. as a surgical sales specialist. She is the Managing Director of Strong Thompson & Associates Wealth Management, LLC with securities and advisory services offered through LPL Financial, a registered investment advisor. Member FINRA/SIPC. Cynthia also is a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC©) and an Accredited Asset Management Specialist (AAMS©) and holds a series 7, series 66 with LPL financial as well as a licensed insurance agent with Louisiana, Mississippi, Maryland, Tennessee and Virginia.
Cynthia knows the importance of planning for the long term. She specializes in financial and/investment-based strategies and estate and wealth transfer issues for families with children with disabilities, especially in the area of Special Needs planning. She works closely with attorneys, CPA’s and other specialists to help families evaluate their options especially regarding elder planning for families with older special needs children who may be approaching long term care issues. Cynthia is passionate in her efforts to educate her clients and the public about these issues because as life spans are increasing and retirement is lasting longer, this is a strategic retirement issue that cannot be overlooked.
Cynthia also works with business owners to develop retirement plans that fit the needs of the company and offer benefits to the employees through various plan designs. She also works with individuals and families to help develop an answer to the timeless question: “Am I able to retire and what will that retirement look like?”
She is a long-standing member of the West St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce and was the Chairman of the Board for 2017. She is a past State President of the Louisiana Federation of Business and Professional Women. She has also served on several local non-profit boards including Habitat for Humanity WST and Safe Harbor Domestic Violence Shelter.
