President and CEO of St. Tammany Health System, Joan Coffman began her career as a radiologic technologist at then St. Tammany Parish Hospital. Prior to this return to her roots, Joan served as President & Chief Executive Officer of HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital of Decatur, IL and as President & Chief Executive Officer of HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital of Chippewa Falls, WI. She served as Chief Executive Officer of the Louisiana Clinic, a multispecialty physician clinic in New Orleans and as the Assistant Administrator of Lindy Boggs Medical Center in New Orleans until 2005 when Hurricane Katrina and the failure of federal levy protection systems closed the facility permanently. Ms. Coffman earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from the College of St. Francis, Joliet, Illinois and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of New Orleans.

Ms. Coffman has a demonstrated track record improving quality, safety, patient experience and overall operating performance as well as a demonstrated passion for improving the overall health and quality of life in the communities of the hospitals she has led. She is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and currently serves as Chair for the Nominating Committee of the Governing Council for the American Hospital Association’s Section for Small or Rural Hospitals. She was inducted into Marquis Who’s Who in 2020 and was named a 2020 City Business Healthcare Hero. She also serves on numerous boards, including St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce, Northshore Business Council, LHA Northshore District, St. Tammy Corporation and Ochsner Health Network. Joan was also instrumental in service to her community as a member of St. Tammany Economic Recovery and Resiliency Advisory Council, established by Parish President Mike Cooper to develop the Live Safe.
